Instagram Reels
It can take a lot of time to manually post all your video content, especially if you have other tasks that need to be completed. It's a time-saver to schedule Instagram reels. You can make reels and schedule them weeks, months, or even days in advance.
What are Instagram Reels?
Instagram Reels are short, vertical videos up to 60 seconds in length.
Instagram users can create and edit video and photo clips to music and then share them on their Feed and Stories pages.
This popular video feature is now available in the US and over 50 other countries. Instagram Reels is an excellent way for businesses and brands to express their creativity and create a visual experience beyond one post.
How to Create an Instagram Reel (a Step-by-step Guide):
Instagram Reels has been an excellent way for businesses and brands to express their creativity and create visual experiences beyond a single post.
In just four steps, you can create your first Instagram reel.
- Storyboard Concept
- Shoot Instagram Reel

Storyboard your Concept
You will know what it means to fail to plan if you don't plan. It's better to have a plan than hit the red light.
Start by answering a few questions:
- Fashion and styling - Which topic would be best for your brand or business? What are your favourite recipes for food? How can you improve your health?
- Is there anything you can use right now that would be a good fit for your brand?
- How will Reels content work with your Instagram stories and posts?
- What type of content and who is your target audience? You can find tutorials, behind-the-scenes, or "a day in your life".
Yo can then browse the app to find visuals, text, trends, aesthetics and inspirations.
After you have a clear understanding of your direction, storyboard the content. This is where you break down the clips that you will need to implement the concept.

Instagram Reels Dimensions: Recommended aspect Ratio and Video Size
- Instagram Reels, like Instagram Stories, can be viewed vertically or full-screen on mobile.
- This is why it is important to keep your content at a 9:16 aspect ratio and 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.
- It is easy to shoot and edit directly from your mobile device.
- The video title appears on the bottom five reels. Avoid critical visual elements within this section if possible.
- Our Instagram post size ratio guide will help you determine the right dimensions for public posts.
Should you shoot and edit Instagram reels?
- It's important to create original content when creating content for Instagram reels.
- However, you don't have to edit your footage in the Instagram app.
- It's simple to learn transitions and edit the footage to a beat. You can save the footage to your Camera Roll and then use a third-party application to edit it -- before uploading it to Reels.
These are the most user-friendly applications for editing reels:
- Splice
- InShot
- Videoleap
- Beatleap
After uploading your edit, you can add captions, voiceovers and audio to Instagram. This will allow the Reels algorithm to categorize your content and ensure that your video appears accurately on—a related audio discovery page.
