Google released the March 2022 product review algorithm update, which added new criteria to the previous year's update.
Google has released a third product review algorithm update in search engine results, following up on the first one it released last year.
In April 2021, the first product review algorithm update went live, with the goal of rewarding content based on direct research. In December, the second product review update arrived.
Update is part of Google's on going effort to highlight high-quality product reviews in search results.
"We're releasing another update that builds on that work to improve our ability to identify high-quality product reviews," says the company. This will make it easier for us to get sound purchasing advice in front of users, as well as to reward creators who are genuinely interested in assisting them."
The update will take several weeks to roll out, according to Google, and it is expected to have an impact on the ranking of English-language product reviews on "many" webpages.
Google has Released New Guidelines for Writing Product Reviews.
Google is releasing new guidelines for writing reviews as part of the March 2022 Product Algorithmic Update to ensure they meet the search engine's quality threshold.
When writing product reviews, Google suggests that you meet the following criteria:
Include helpful in-depth descriptions such as a product's benefits and drawbacks, as well as how it performs and how it differs from previous versions.
come from people that have actually used the products and show how they are used or how they are physically there
Include information that isn't provided by the creator, such as visuals, audio, or links to other resources that detail the reviewer's experience.
Compare and contrast similar products, or explain how the product differs from its competitors.
The Google Guide to Multi-Product Reviews
Since the first product algorithm update, it hasn't always been clear whether this applies to reviews of single products or reviews with multiple product lists.
Product review updates, according to Google, apply to ranked records and comparison reviews.
"Yes. All types of review content are affected by the product review updates. The best practices that we discuss are also applicable. However, because ranked lists are short, you can demonstrate expertise in a more concise manner." It's possible that you'll want to emphasize authenticity. This can be accomplished by citing relevant results and including original images of tests you've conducted with the product."
If you're writing product reviews with the goal of recommending the "best" product overall, Google has some suggestions.
Include the latest details in your review when recommending a product as the best overall or for a specific purpose:
- What distinguishes the product from others on the market?
- Why is the product particularly well-suited to the task at hand?
- Direct proof to back up your claims
Finally, it's perfectly acceptable for Google to create individual reviews for products, even if they're part of a ranked list.
If you decide to write multiple reviews, make sure each one has enough useful content to stand on its own. Don't simply restate what you've already said.
